چکیده :
The present study explores the efficacy of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the translation process, with a focus on Persian proverbs. In this regard, sixty Persian proverbs were selected from Moosavi’s (2000) book and supplemented with contextual information from Daneshchi website to ensure a comprehensive understanding of each proverb’s meaning and usage. These Persian proverbs, along with their figurative meanings and contextual explanations, were provided to ChatGpt one by one to generate English translations. The AI-generated English translations were then evaluated against reliable dictionaries, such as Cambridge and Merriam Webster, to verify their accuracy. The results showed that out of 60 proverbs, 41 had acceptable equivalence, while 16 did not, and three were paraphrased based on the provided context. These findings suggest that AI can significantly aid in the translation of idiomatic expressions when provided with sufficient context. The study also emphasizes the importance of crafting precise prompts to improve translation accuracy. Furthermore, it highlights the potential for AI to enhance human translation efforts, proposing that training in effective prompt creation is essential for leveraging AI in translation tasks.
