چکیده :
Nowadays, teaching English to Iranian children has gained popularity and it sped up the establishment of bilingual kindergartens all around the country. Despite its expanding trend, there have been questions concerning this program's efficacy. Researches have shown that these kindergartens' educational systems suffer from several shortcomings which frequently demotivates learners. Concerning current trends, futurology, or the study of future possibilities can be useful in identifying potential challenges in education. With this perspective in mind, the current study explored the future of early English language teaching and learning in Iran through the framework of the Causal Layered Analysis (CLA) model proposed by Inayatullah. To achieve the aim, 28 individuals - 13 parents, 5 teachers, 3 administrators, 4 English language experts, 3 psychologists specializing in early childhood education- were selected through convenience sampling. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews. The major challenges, including the absence of structured curricula, unqualified kindergartener’s teachers, unfamiliar teachers in children’s psychology, and finally parental pressure to bring up bilingual children were extracted from the collected data. The study suggested implementing extensive teacher training courses and raising awareness among parents. Considering these issues will promote a more effective bilingual education system and significantly enhance the academic success of children learners in Iran.
