چکیده :
The purpose of this study was to investigate how gender is presented in the Top Notch Student books series. Gender studies are important because they examine the complex links between cultural beliefs, societal norms, and the values associated with the social categories of men and women in many cultural contexts. The concept of gender is strongly linked to several quantitative research findings and demographic studies in the social sciences, highlighting the significant impact that gender relations have on a variety of social phenomena. Top Notch book series were selected randomly among ten popular books taught in Iran, and Fairclough’s (2001) three-dimensional model was chosen and adopted as the framework and model of the research. The textbooks were analyzed systematically, considering eight factors, i.e., female and male's characters, female and male’s social roles, female and male’s domestic roles, female and male’s semantic roles, female and male’s titles, order of appearance, masculine generic construction, activities females and males engaged in, and finally the pictorial representation of both genders. The result of the study asserted that although gender representation is more balanced in Top Notch series, males have more active role in some part of the books.
