چکیده :
This paper seeks to investigate the concept of transhumanism within the storyworld of Kazuo Ishiguro’s Klara and the Sun. By examining the narrative and setting of the novel, this study aims to understand how rapid advancements in artificial intelligence affect human identity, relationships, and societal norms. Central to this exploration is Klara, an AI companion whose interactions with humans raise critical questions about the essence of humanity, empathy, and consciousness. The paper aims to answer: How does the integration of AI challenge traditional definitions of what it means to be human? In what ways do the characters’ relationships with AI entities reveal the ethical and emotional complexities of a transhumanist world? Through a close reading of Ishiguro’s text, this study will explore the narrative’s insights into the possibilities and dilemmas of living in a transhumanist space, where the boundaries between human and machine become increasingly blurred.
