چکیده :
Psychological capital (PsyCap) plays a crucial role in the well-being and effectiveness of English teachers in the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context. Despite its importance, there is a paucity of research examining the PsyCap of EFL teachers, particularly in non-native English-speaking countries. This study addresses this gap by exploring the components of PsyCap hope, efficacy, resilience, and optimism among EFL teachers. The purpose of this study is to understand how these psychological factors impact their teaching practices and overall job satisfaction. Using a qualitative research design, data were gathered through semi-structured interviews with 13 EFL teachers from various educational institutions. Maxqda was used to identify recurring themes and patterns in the data. Four themes were extracted from the data: goal-setting, professional confidence, coping mechanisms, positive outlook. Results reveal that high levels of PsyCap contribute to greater teaching effectiveness, enhanced job satisfaction, and improved teacher-student relationships. Conversely, low PsyCap is associated with increased burnout and job dissatisfaction. Additionally, fostering PsyCap in EFL teachers is essential for improving their professional performance. Finally, suggestions for future research were offered.
